The Lucknow Lancers hosted the Drayton Icemen in their home opener on Saturday evening. Rick Andrew opened the scoring for the Lancersat 1:58 on the first period with newcomer to the club Jordan Doig assisting on the goal. Shots in the first period favoured the Icemen by a margin of 14 - 11.
Kyle Quinn picked up a short-handed goal at the 5:54 mark of the second period to give Lucknow a 2 - 0 lead, Jonny MacKinnon and Cody Hamilton picked up assists on the goal. Kyle Heffernan got Drayton on the scoresheet at 9:04 of the second period with Dave Leveille and Brady Clausen assisting on the goal. Ryan Murley restored the Lancers 2 goal lead at 10:40 with MacKinnon and Hamilton assisting on the goal. John Thiel rounded out the scoring in the second period and in the game at 19:13 on a power-play marker with Jon Budef and Devin McGuire assisting on the goal. Shots on goal in the second were 20 - 18 in favour of Drayton.
The third period was scoreless as the Lancers out shot Drayton by a margin on 13 - 12. Final shots were 46 - 42 in favour of Drayton. Joe Vercillo picked up the win for Lucknow while Liam Johnston took the loss for Drayton.
Next action for the Lancers is Saturday October 16th at 8:00 PM when they host the Shelburne Muskies.
